At one time, ideas about merging the web environment and "classic" applications wandered through bright minds. We literally work inside a browser. So why, inside a computer operating system, is there another operating system for the web? These are all applications, all tools for work, entertainment, creativity. Let the environment be unified. That is what designers at Yandex thought. That is what engineers at Google thought. There was even a version of Android where Chrome tabs were shown on equal footing with apps on the running-apps list screen. Then they buried it. It did not take off I was interested in landing this on the desktop. But the thought quickly moved toward organizing and optimizing the workspace. The ergonomics of interface devices have not been reconsidered for a long time. By the way, they can be reconsidered even now. Let us start with the fact that initially computer screens had different proportions: 4:3, not 16:9. On 4:3, much more content fit vertically. You could say there was more useful area on the screen! MacOS and Windows were designed in these proportions. There was no need to save height. That is why there are menu panels. On the Mac one common panel under the ceiling; in Windows, one for each window Fast Forward: TNT matrices were cheaper to cut in 16:9, there was less waste. And now we live in a world of monitors where, on screen, we have quite a lot of width for displaying information and are eternally short on height. Idea: adapt interfaces to horizontal proportions. Design software in such a way as to gather everything into one working panel. And give content freedom - without excessive frames and fences. Year of the concept? Judging by the fact that the interface is set in Helvetica, before the SF family appeared, this is 2013-2014. There is also Skype in the lower panel. Favorite file-sharing app
