In Android 15 they promise Predictive Back behavior enabled by default. Two years have passed since the feature was invented. Apparently they managed to drag it through endless approval meetings. Why does no one at conferences talk about how many meetings were spent so a decision could see the light? The essence of the behavior: during the basic "back" gesture, while moving a finger across the phone screen, the current screen sticks to the finger and shifts, allowing a peek and showing in advance the context to which the person will return. And we thought everything had already been invented and we just needed to draw bigger banners! And pop-ups. In the first demo, the one on a dark background, the last app, Apple Music, does not support Predictive Back, and on the "Back" gesture we see the gesture indicator on the screen while the app simply collapses. A curious chain reaction is being observed. The Facebook app on iOS implemented a visual indicator for the "Back" gesture. They hint that there will be a transition to the home tab. I wonder whether their team thinks about Predictive Back 🤔 P.S. Spotify supports this behavior starting with Android 14
